Frequently Asked Questions

What types of issues can you help me with?

I specialise in a wide range of areas, including anxiety, stress, depression, grief, life transitions, self-esteem, and personal growth. Additionally, I offer support for NDIS participants, including psychosocial recovery coaching to help build resilience and independence.

What if I don’t feel ready to talk about everything in the first session?

That’s completely fine! Our sessions will move at your pace. My goal is to create a safe space where you feel comfortable opening up when you’re ready.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients find a few sessions helpful for short-term guidance, while others may benefit from ongoing support. We can discuss a recommended plan based on your unique situation in our first session.

What can I expect in my first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to share what you’re hoping to achieve. I’ll ask some questions about your background, concerns, and goals. This helps us create a personalised plan and gives you a chance to decide if you feel comfortable moving forward with me.

What should I bring to my first session?

For your first session, it’s helpful to bring any notes or questions you may have about what you’d like to focus on in therapy. If you’re an NDIS participant, please bring any relevant documents or information about your plan, as it can help tailor the session to your needs. Most importantly, just bring yourself—there’s no need to prepare extensively. We’ll go at a pace that feels right for you.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a core part of the therapy process. Everything shared in sessions is private and secure, except in rare cases where there’s a legal obligation to report (such as harm to oneself or others). I’ll discuss confidentiality policies in detail during our first session to ensure you feel comfortable and informed.

Do I need a referral to book a session?

No referral is needed. You can reach out directly to book a session whenever you’re ready. However, if you have an NDIS plan or other funding, be sure to check if there are any specific requirements related to that.

Do you see people face-to-face?

Yes, I offer face-to-face sessions for clients who prefer in-person support. My practice is located in Cardiff Heights, making it convenient for those in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and surrounding areas. This setting provides a comfortable, private space for us to work together in person. If you’d like to arrange an in-person session, feel free to reach out, and we can schedule a time that suits you.

Do you offer Telehealth or video call sessions?

Yes! I offer online therapy and coaching sessions via video call or phone, so you can access support from wherever you are.

How do online sessions work?

Online sessions are conducted via a secure video platform or phone, offering flexibility and accessibility from your own home. All you need is a quiet space and a reliable internet connection. I’ll guide you through the setup before your first session to ensure everything runs smoothly.

How do I schedule a session?

You can send in a request through the contact form or contact me directly via phone or email.

Do you provide NDIS services?

Yes. If you are plan or self-managed I can work with you to achieve your counselling goals.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept a range of payment methods, including credit card and payments through the NDIS (for eligible services). Payment details and options will be provided when scheduling your session.

What is your cancellation policy?

To help you remember your upcoming session, I’ll send a reminder text 48 hours in advance. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please reach out as early as possible to avoid fees. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur the full session fee. This policy ensures that I can manage appointments effectively and offer support to other clients in need.
